NOLA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to improving academic success and overall wellbeing for youth nationwide through the design, operation, and expansion of outdoor learning programs.
What We Do

Program Operation
We design and operate multiple outdoor learning programs across different settings, from forest school to in-school and afterschool models.
Together, these programs demonstrate how outdoor learning can be successfully integrated into a wide range of educational environments.

School Partnerships
We partner with schools and organizations to bring outdoor learning to students through in-school, afterschool, and community-based programs.

Strategy Sessions
We offer focused, experience-based guidance for educators, founders, and organizations building outdoor learning programs.
Children today spend increasing time indoors and on screens. Outdoor learning provides a meaningful alternative that supports academic growth, wellbeing, and essential life skills through real-world experiences.
To date, NOLA’s programs have:
Served over 3,500 children (ages 4–14) through outdoor learning programs
Provided more than $50,000 in tuition assistance to increase access for under-resourced families
Brought outdoor learning to 18 public schools in the Boise and West Ada School Districts
Reduced barriers to participation through both financial support and access to outdoor gear via our Gear Library
Delivered 20+ programs for underserved populations, including resettled youth and children with diabetes
Supported the development of outdoor learning programs in communities across the country through mentorship and strategy sessions
Reached educators and community leaders nationwide through in-person trainings and speaking engagements
